Twisted Luck by Mia Downing ❤️ Fun Facts, Book Tour & Gift Card Giveaway ❤️ (Paranormal Erotic Romance)

All Olivia Denning wants is luck—the good kind. She's lost her job, some jerk has emptied her bank account, and she caught her best friend screwing her fiancé. A tequila-induced pity party leads to a steamy, one-night stand with a sinfully handsome stranger promising to solve all her problems with a kiss. When the next morning reveals a twist of good luck, Olivia is thrilled to leave the nightmare of her life behind until she realizes she's now soul-deep in a different kind of trouble. Her one-night stand turns out to be her soon-to-be stepbrother...and somehow, during mind-blowing sex, she agreed to sell her soul.

Leo Weston is a sexy, soul-stealing scoundrel in cahoots with his father, conquering the world one soul at a time. Olivia's mother is next on the demon duo's exclusive list of pure souls, and time is running out. Olivia is forced to go deep under the sheets with Leo until she can find a way to save her mother from the same fate. But one taste of Leo’s brand of heady sin had gotten her to sell her soul...will her twisted luck be enough to save her mother and protect her heart?

Hi, I’m Mia Downing, and I want to thank Romance Novel Giveaways for having me today!

Fun Facts Behind Twisted Luck
1) The idea for Twisted Luck came to me in a dark burst of words after I had given up writing. This scene of a woman sitting on her living room floor, feeling like it was the end had haunted me, and I began to ask a series of “what if” questions. Why was she so sad? What event changes things for her? POOF! My muse appeared and Leo Weston was born. I eventually changed the opening, but that scene sparked a whole book.

2) The chapters in Twisted Luck weren’t written in sequential order. I’ve only written one book from start to finish (Switching Leads) and I think even in that one I wrote the ending before the actual end.

My writing process is odd. I will write the opening and then add in scenes as my mind sees them. So I might write three chapters and then write the ending if I’m compelled to do so. After that, it’s a matter of filling in the middle. It’s sort of like doing a maze from the inside out that way. The great thing is the middle is never saggy or boring. The hard part is I can’t have a critique partner read for me if I get stuck because it doesn’t make sense!

3) I always write with a playlist that sparks the muse and the words to be written. Twisted Luck started with listing to Ex’s & Oh’s by Elle King. Other songs included:
Alive by Sia
Devil, Devil by MILCK
Hello by Adele
Set Fire to the Third Bar by Snow Patrol with Martha Wainwright
Stitches by Shawn Mendes
Three Wishes by The Pierces
Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift
With or Without You originally by U2, covered by 2Cellos

4) I wrote Twisted Luck mostly on Friday mornings. I had just started a part-time job (gotta pay the bills somehow). I needed to make time to write since my schedule was taken up with a half-hour commute each way. Friday was my morning off, and I set a goal of five hundred words so I wouldn’t feel overwhelmed. I usually wrote two thousand or more. I will say the driving meant I had time to contemplate the scenes and solve any issues I had with plot or conflict.

5) One of the characters in Twisted Luck—Babu—is based on my Great Aunt Trudie. Trudie was a Russian immigrant who came to the US in 1917. She supposedly had psychic abilities and read tea leaves. She even had the police seek her help on a few cases. She found a missing child and predicted many deaths, one being her own husband’s. She only read my tea leaves once, and I don’t remember what she said at all because I wasn’t very old. Obviously, she didn’t predict my death, but she did teach me some Russian.

“I don’t want soda.” His concerned, gorgeous face blurred a moment before my eyes and then cleared. Ah, finally, the liquor had kicked in. “I am batting a zero at everything except getting drunk. Let me have some semblance of victory.”

“I think you’ve already won. How about another conquest?”

Conquest. I snorted. “My intent tonight was to get laid. My exes are getting laid. It’s their wedding night.” Shot glass empty, I sipped from the soda placed in front of me and found it lacking. “I can’t even accomplish that.”

He cocked his head. “It’s not too late.”

I looked around the nearly empty bar. “I have Rudy the homeless guy and Nate to choose from. And Nate’s gay.”

“What about me?”

“You?” I laughed. “You’re as sexy as Satan. Way out of my league.”

I assure you I don’t come close to Lucifer’s beauty or skill in bed.” His hand brushed my hair aside again, and when he cupped my cheek this time, I leaned into it. “But I’m not out of your league.”

Mia Downing started creating heroes at age four, but her heroes back then rode ponies to the rescue and only kissed her on the cheek. Today, Mia's heroes still rescue those in need, but the price of their toys and the expertise of their seduction leads to a whole lot more. When Mia isn't busy creating new stories for her readers she fills in as an underwear model for a prestigious lingerie company. She also lives in New England with her family, and enjoys horses and knitting.
Fun facts: Mia can juggle (poorly,) create balloon animals and face paint. She was the hit entertainment of two family parties. No clown suits were involved.
